At Home Microdermabrasion Devices in Depth

Top at Home Microdermabrasion Tips and Devices

From my last post Microdermabrasion at home, is it worth it, I walked you through the differences between at home vs in office. Today I wanted to get more in depth about the devices I’ve tried and the differences.

The two main Differences between in-office and at-home is that the devices used in office normally have more power, and get deeper into the skin to provide a more in depth exfoliation and the price.

You’re probably thinking its worth it to just get it done in office because it sounds more effective, right?

So is Microdermabrasion at home Effective?

100% personal microdermabrasion machines can provide amazing benefits when it comes to reducing signs of aging, enlarged pores, acne scars, and light sun damage.

These specific conditions typically sit on the outer layer of the skin, which at home microdermabrasion comes handy. This also keeps more money in your pocket and giving you the option to keep your skin fresh because you can do it more often.

Many people ask if microdermabrasion hurts and to be honest it’s something you’ll adjust to. The one thing I really love about the machine I purchased is you can use different suction levels giving you the opportunity to adjust the intensity to your personal preference.

Why People Struggle with Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a one time treatment, or is it?

Microdermabrasion isn’t a one time thing to get perfect skin, this is a common misconception. Your skin will look smoother, clearer and more even after one treatment, but if you’re after the very best version of your skin, you will need to continue treatments along with taking care of your skin (drinking water, exercising, and so on)

Microdermabrasion can be done as frequently as weekly or up to every eight weeks depending on your skin’s tolerance and desired outcome. I chose to start with weekly treatments for 4 sessions then I changed to a monthly maintenance routine.

I could’t believe how much dead skin I had on my face which is why I decided to do weekly treatments for the first month. It seemed like every time I would microderm my face I’d have more dead skin than the previous time.

I didn’t think I was going to see results after my first use because its not as strong as in office treatments, however my skin was noticeably smoother and I feel like my face when a shade lighter no joke.

This was another reason why I decided to purchase a at home machine, I knew this was going to be a long commitment and I don’t have the money to continuously pop into a drs office.

PMD VS Trophy Skin

I’ve tried two different devices and while they both have their pros one significantly out weighed the other. The two I tried were the PMD and the Trophy Skin.

PMD

PMD At home Microdermabrasion

The PMD is a handheld device that rotates and suctions your skin at the same time. Here is the description from the website

” Combines Patented Spinning Disc technology with Perfectly Calibrated Vacuum Suction to leave skin looking fresh and radiant. Weekly treatments reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, blemishes and enlarged pores. ”

I like the convenience of this, if you travel often you can toss this in the bag for quick treatments. I also noticed with the PMD you can choose the intensity of the disk you would like to use at that time of treatment, where as the Trophy skin is the same tip.

Lastly the PMD comes is different levels which can be confusing. All the models come with Spinning Disc Technology, Vacuum Suction and the standard speed option. When it comes down to low speed option, the classic caps and the smooth glide option you’ll have to decide which you’d rather have. You can see the chart below for comparison.

I decided to go with the Classic one and for me the low speed option is not a deal breaker, I almost find that not needed for what I was trying to achieve. If you have sensitive skin this might be an option for you!

Trophy Skin

The Thing I really love about the Trophy is the feel of the machine. I feel like I get more suction from the Trophy Skin machine. One thing that really stands out about this one is the Display.

This was designed with beginners in mind which is what put my mind at ease. It will walk you through an entire treatment of each zone of the face, neck & chest in exactly 5 minutes. Not just that, it shows you what direction to go so it takes thinking out of the equation. Where the PMD is only a three minute treatment.

Trophy Skin

With the Auto Mode, it will display the area to treat, along with the preset suction power level and countdown timer. Moving to the manual mode you can concentrate on the areas you want to focus on the most. This was beneficial for me on the cheek area since I have scarring from acne.
