La Mer is like the Illuminati of the skincare world, and I can say I haven’t run into someone that hasn’t heard of their luxury products.
No one knows who started it, how it came to be, or even if La Mer is real. La Mer can be purchased online or in select stores for the price of your firstborn child.
The most asked question I get about La Mer is, Is it Worth the prices?
If you’re thinking about trying La Mer products, but you’re a little intimidated by the price tag, let me kick this review off with a La Mer quote:
“While most skincare products merely cleanse or moisturize, Miracle Broth™ infuses the skin with revitalizing hydration that captures the essence of life.” –La Mer
Let’s get into the nitty-gritty of La Mer.
Is La Mer Worth the Money?

Is La Mer Worth The Eye Gouging Prices? It’s fair to say it depends on who you ask.
La Mer is an all-in-one cream that promises to transform your skin with what they call “Miracle Broth.” La Mer has many ingredients, but one in particular, known as “The Miracle Broth,” sets La Mer apart from other creams.
This unique broth contains sea kelp, vitamins, and minerals that La Mer claims work to rejuvenate skin, all while giving you younger-looking skin.
La Mer is supposed to mimic the process your body goes through when creating new cells, and it also stimulates collagen production with its nutrient-rich creams.
These luxurious skincare products are advertised to have a lightweight texture with an instantly refreshing effect on the skin, which is supposed to hydrate, firm, smooth, and diminish lines, wrinkles, and pores. La Mer also promises people with sensitive skin that La Mer “soothes” the skin while at the same time replenishing your skin’s natural moisture barrier.
The Skincare Lineup
Let’s talk about the La Mer Skincare Lineup. As we know, La Mer is a luxury skincare line that has lots of glowing reviews, and people swear by these Lil beauties.
The La Mer skincare lineup comprises cleansers, serums, moisturizers, eye creams, and that’s just scratching the surface. I have to warn you, the prices of these skincare goodies are outrageously expensive!
So today, I’m going to be talking about all the skincare products that I have purchased with my own money, what they do, what ingredients they have, and my honest opinions on whether they are worth the splurging price.
So let’s begin, shall we?
What Is the Miracle Broth?
But first, what is the La Mer Miracle Broth? In the company’s words, it’s a “revolutionary dermatological elixir that marries science and nature into visible perfection.” In other words, is this fancy water?
The product’s key ingredient is a broth containing sea kelp, which sounds gross until you realize that sea kelp is rich in iodine, one of the world’s most potent anti-agers.
And if that’s not enough, La Mer uses a patented process called Bio-Convergence to ensure that these scientific ingredients work together and absorb into the skin:
“The power of sea kelp bio ferment and other key ingredients is intensified by our patented Bio-Convergence Delivery Complex – an extraordinary fusion of potent ingredients, including Purified Deep Sea Water, Bio-Convergence Technology, and a tamarind-derived natural polymer – to energize the skin’s outer layers. This supports the skin’s natural production of moisture, enhances visible firmness and elasticity, defends against environmental aggressors, and improves radiance.”
La Mer Moisturizing Cream
The first La Mer skincare product I purchased was the Moisturizing Soft Cream. I bought a Sephora Luxury box ( I think that’s what it’s called), and this moisturizer was included.
This moisturizer is meant to restore “the glow of healthy, hydrated skin” with a luxurious formula that helps strengthen the moisture barrier and lock water in for lasting hydration.
My first impression was woah- this is a thick texture, and a little goes such a long way. The first day I wore it, my face was an oily mess, and I was ready to gift the remaining jar to my mom.
Fast-forwarding two weeks later, I became obsessed. What changed? I used less and started as my moisturizer before bed- girl, this made a huge difference.
La Mer Claims: It “instantly delivers a burst of moisture to keep even the driest complexions feeling hydrated and looking luminous.”
I experienced this right away after the first use!
My Experience
Although, I have to say that I’m not much of a moisturizer person because my skin fluctuates between being dry in annoying patches to being oily, so moisturizers are just this weird in-between thing for me. ( I still use moisturizers; I’m just never really excited to use them. if that makes sense)
I wasn’t looking for hydration or luminosity when I purchased this moisturizer; what I was looking for was the brightening factor. After raving reviews and watching a few YouTube videos, I thought this was the solution to my dark under eyes.
I am currently at the bottom of my first jar, and I’m preparing myself to break down and spend the coin. However, the mini jar lasted me so long even though I use it every single day without fail.
This has helped with hydration; my skin is incredibly soft and more radiant-looking right after application.
Thoughts:
The La Mer Cream is my favorite option for my nighttime moisturizer. Are there other options out there that are more affordable? Of course, but the way this cream leaves my face feeling in the morning is second to none.
The Lar Mer Concentrate :
I was most excited to try this after feeling the texture in store.
It also feels fantastic on the skin; the feeling is like rubbing silk on your face.
The Concentrate absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily or greasy (at least it doesn’t for me). My face looks better after using it, and I love to use this as a makeup primer as well.
The Concentrate is pricey at $210 for .5oz. I’ve used a good amount of this, and a little does go a long way, but it’s hard for me to recommend it as something to try because it is super pricey.
Would I purchase this again? Yes, I can’t get enough of how this makes my skin feel. The only serum that has come close to providing a similar feel is from Rodial- the snake venom line. ( which I do have on hand also)
The Eye Concentrate :
This also absorbs quickly and feels fantastic on your face.
I haven’t noticed any changes in the dark circles, which is why I purchased this. However, it has only been a few weeks I need to be more patient.
The eye cream has a very silky texture, and it leaves my skin feeling refreshed.
I only do the smallest dot under each eye again; a little goes a long way. The Eye Concentrate wears nicely under my concealer and provides hydrated under eyes.
Another eye product I love to use is from BeautyBio the Eye Quench.
The La Mer Treatment Lotion :
This is thicker than most of my other pre-treatments but not as thick as the Concentrate.
It absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily or greasy. I actually would recommend this to use before applying your skincare- you will notice immediate results with the Treatment Lotion.
So I secretly wanted to try this after I saw Patrick Ta use this before applying foundation to one of his models. #obsessed
The Treatment lotion, thank the skincare gods, is more affordable than the other products, and this has now become a staple in my routine. A similar product to the Treatment Lotion is from Tatcha- the Essence.
The Lar Mer Eye Balm Intense :
While this feels nice when you put it on, I’m not going to lie…it stung. After a few minutes, the stinging went away, and my undereye area felt very moisturized.
The texture of the eye balm intense is silky smooth, and I swear it has a slight cooling effect on the eye.
I purchased this one for the claims of helping to fight eye puffiness and filling in small lines.
I was pretty surprised by how cooling the eye balm intensely cooled my under eyes. When applying, I dab the smallest amount to the eye in the morning, and again, a little goes a long way.
I feel like my eyes are slightly less puffy- for $245 I expected more miracles under the eyes, but maybe I haven’t used this long enough yet to see results.
The Lar Mer Lip Balm :
This is thick and has a yummy minty scent that doesn’t last long. It feels luxurious on my lips and has a slick texture; it does absorb quickly.
I use this nightly and wake up with soft lips- no complaints here. Is this a must-have.. no?
Will I repurchase not too sure; to be honest with you, I tend to skip lip moisturizers altogether.
The La Mer Cleansing Gel:
The La Mer Cleansing Gel is a dense, opaque white color and has a very light scent that reminds me of floral aromas. It lathers up into a creamy foam and rinses easily without drying out the skin.
After trying the sample I received of this, I turned around and purchased the full size.
This cleanser does a decent job at removing stubborn makeup, but I still found it didn’t remove my mascara altogether.
The La Mer Mist
I just spritzed my face as I’m writing this, and I always fall in love with this mist.
The Lar Mist is perfect when you feel like your face needs a pick-me-up.
The mist isn’t too sharp or too soft; it’s just suitable for everyday use. It does make you feel like you are giving your skin an extra boost of hydration.
How much is the La Mer Mist? The La Mer mist is $85 USD for 3.4oz, I know it’s pricey, but there’s something about this mist you almost crave after trying it for the first time.
I hear two spritzes of this mist is all you need to give your face a fresh start.
My bottle definitely will not be running out any time soon since I only use it twice, maybe three times a week.
Overall Thoughts On La Mer Skincare
I’ve tried many skincare lines and products (still trying new things often), but the La Mer brand is by far my favorite. The packaging is luxurious with its soft green glass jar and gold accents; it smells like heaven (lavender) and doesn’t feel greasy on my skin.
So is La Mer worth the eye-gouging prices? Okay, that is dramatic (eye-gouging), but I have continued to purchase La Mer, and my collection keeps growing.
For me, La Mer is worth the money. It costs so much because of the quality of ingredients used and how they can create such a powerful formula that does everything from brightening your dark circles to calming any redness or irritation.
In this post, I have mentioned some of my favorite alternatives to that specific product, but that’s just it.. their alternatives.
I always find myself reaching for my La Mer products, and the results I have seen have impressed me. Have they blown me away? The Treatment Lotion and the Concentrate have 100% blown me away, and these products will make great Christmas gifts.
If I had to start my collection, I would start with the Treatment Lotion first, followed by the Concentrate.
