The Makeup by Mario Master Mattes Palette has been the talk of the makeup community since it was released earlier this year or last year, I cant remember.
Master Mattes is a perfect nude palette for any makeup kit and can create natural looks or smoky eyes. The range of colors in the Master Mattes Palette is fantastic, and I don’t know why I waited too long to try it out.
What Makes the Master Mattes Palette Worth it?
When it comes to finding a solid matte palette, I look for shades with no shimmer (of course), good color payout, and accurate color. The Makeup by Mario Palette is all of those things and more!
One thing I love about this palette is that it comes with a variety of beautiful nude shades. There are three different rows of mattes; row one is used as an all-over base, a highlighter for your brow bone, or the inner eye.
The second row shows more warm/deeper shades that you can use to define or contour your crease. Lastly, the third row becomes more generous with pigment, and you can use these shades to fill in your brows… can you say genius? Overall this is a versatile palette worth the money if you need a quick eye that still allows you to look put together with minimal effort.
Price of the Makeup By Mario Palette
Let’s look at the pricing of the Master Mattes palette because, let’s be honest, this matters. The palette retails for $48 for 12 shades, bringing each shade to $4, which is not bad. I have seen other palettes on the market that have some solid options for nude matte shades. Some of my all-time favorite nude palettes are
- Maybelle- The Nudes 20 shades for $9.00
- Anastasia- The Soft Glam Palette 14 shades for $45.00
The palettes I just listed either are cheaper or have more shades; however, can we call these two palettes actual nude palettes? I will let you decide that.
Back to the Master Mattes palette, I will say if you are a makeup lover and love a good matte nude, these shadows have an excellent formula, have proven to be buildable in the color intensity, and are easy to blend out; which we know is vital when it comes to a solid smokey eye.
How Did The Colors Apply And Blend?
When I first tried the palette, I noticed the intensity with my finger, of course, was more intense than my makeup brushes. Not going to lie; I was worried about this! However, the shades applied evenly across my eyelid. It was nice that I built up to the intensity throughout the day as I wanted without creating creasing or patches in my eyeshadow.
If you have issues with patchy eyeshadow looks, always remember to prep your eyelid with your favorite primer. Or, if you’re like me and never have that on hand, you can use your concealer and some setting powder.
